NIB Policy Deemed to Provide Legal Certainty for Creators
The government’s move to issue the latest Indonesian Standard Industrial Classification (KBLI) regulation, which requires content creators to have a Business Identification Number (NIB) by June 2026, is considered a positive signal for the creative industry. The regulation is seen as proof that the creator profession is now officially recognised by the state as a formal, legal, and accountable business sector.
Responding to this, affiliate content creator with a legal education background, Fajar Ryan Akbar, said that adaptation to technology and digital literacy can open doors to success that are not limited to conventional career paths. Through his TikTok and Shopee Video account under the username @rekomendasijarrr, he actively shares trusted product reviews. To establish more personal communication, he also optimises his personal Facebook account using his real name, Fajar Ryan Akbar.
According to Fajar, the digital era has broadly democratised employment opportunities. However, he stressed that this massive ecosystem development must be balanced with legal awareness and professionalism from its actors.
‘The important thing in this digital era is how we are adaptive in seeing opportunities and compliant with regulations. The NIB policy from the government actually provides legal certainty and protection for us professional creators. The registration process is now also very easy and transparent, done independently through the government’s Online Single Submission (OSS) system,’ Fajar said in a written statement received by Republika on Wednesday (1/7/2026).
Fajar stated that the most important asset in this industry is not large capital, but rather consistency, integrity, and compliance with regulations. With this official legality, his account @rekomendasijarrr on TikTok and Shopee, as well as his personal Facebook account, now have a strong legal foundation to scale up to a more professional business level.
