PT Nusa Halmahera Minerals (NHM) has held a clean-up action in the Tanjung Barnabas area and donated 19 tree seedlings to MTs Bukittinggi. The activity, themed ‘Now for Climate’, was conducted to commemorate World Environment Day on 5 June and to support greening programmes in schools.

The Clean Up Day involved around 70 employees, including management and work partners from various departments. Participants combed the roadside area of Tanjung Barnabas, collecting and removing inorganic waste. A total of approximately 70 trash bags were gathered during the activity.

NHM Deputy Director of Operations, Rara Dodo Lawolo, expressed appreciation for the committee and the combined team from various departments who participated. ‘This activity is a form of shared concern for the environment, which coexists with the company’s operational activities. The Tanjung Barnabas tourist area, with its beautiful sea views, is also a strategic location supporting NHM’s logistics distribution and an area where community economic activity continues to grow. Therefore, maintaining cleanliness and environmental sustainability in this area is a shared responsibility,’ he stated.

He further stressed that environmental preservation efforts require collaboration from all parties, including the community and relevant stakeholders. ‘Environmental conservation cannot be done by one party alone. Good cooperation and coordination between the company, the community, and other stakeholders are needed so that awareness and concern for the environment can continue to grow and be sustainable,’ he added.

On the same occasion, he also noted that the environmental management award received by NHM from the North Halmahera Regency Environmental Agency was the result of joint efforts across departments. ‘The award received by the company is the result of cross-departmental collaboration in implementing good environmental management. This achievement is not only the success of the Environment Team but also of all company elements that support these efforts,’ he said.

As part of the World Environment Day commemoration series, NHM also supported a greening programme initiated by MTs Bukit Tinggi by donating 19 tree seedlings to be planted within the school grounds.

Head of MTs Bukit Tinggi, Isman Ibrani, appreciated NHM’s support. ‘NHM’s support through the provision of tree seedlings is a positive contribution to the school’s greening programme and helps raise environmental awareness among students. The seedlings received will be planted in the school environment to create a greener and more comfortable learning atmosphere,’ he concluded.
