Ngurah Rai Airport Closes During Nyepi: What Time Will It Reopen?
I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali will close during the Holy Day of Nyepi, from 6:00 AM WITA on Thursday (19/3/2026) until 6:00 AM WITA on Friday (20/3/2026). This operational closure is part of the airport’s commitment to supporting and respecting the observance of Nyepi in Bali. In accordance with Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) number A0096 issued by Perum LPPNPI/AirNav Indonesia, all regular commercial flight activities at the airport will be halted from 6:00 AM WITA on Thursday, 19 March 2026, to 6:00 AM WITA on Friday, 20 March 2026. During this period, no regular flights will depart or land at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport. Furthermore, this operational suspension has been coordinated with all aviation stakeholders. Flight schedule adjustments have also been communicated by each airline to passengers. The temporary halt of airport operations during Nyepi has been routinely carried out every year, allowing the Hindu community in Bali to solemnly perform the Catur Brata Penyepian rituals, Nugroho stated. The airport has coordinated with all stakeholders to ensure optimal service to users before and after the suspension period. Although flight operations are halted, a number of airport personnel will remain on standby to support emergency flight needs. Such as medical flights or special flights if required, and with approval from relevant authorities. During the Nyepi period, 440 regular commercial flight schedules will not operate, comprising 231 domestic routes and 209 international routes. During the flight operation suspension, 19 aircraft are planned to remain overnight (RON) at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport in Bali. According to the schedule, the last departure before the suspension is at 11:10 PM WITA on Wednesday (18/3/2026) for domestic routes, and 1:30 AM WITA on Thursday (19/3/2026) for international routes.
