NGOs provide help for bombing victims

JAKARTA: Non-governmental organizations Yayasan Pulih, Yayasan Forum 58 and the International Catholic Migration Commission (ICMC) have launched an joint campaign to help people cope with trauma resulting from terrorist attacks.

The three organizations have been active in providing counseling for survivors and relatives of bomb-attack victims as well as for people who fear more bombs.

Kristi Poerwandari of Yayasan Pulih said that people often had trouble coping with traumatic experiences.

"Now we have a program called the 'Natural Coping Mechanism' ... We are also running advertisements, getting the issue on radio and TV talk shows and into media to help us reach out to those who are disturbed by the recurring terrorist attacks.

For more information and counseling, the public can contact the groups' hotline at 7196426, 7197476, or 70791304 or e-mail its e-counseling service on yayasan_pulih@yahoo.com. -- Antara
