NGO reports bogus projects

TANGERANG: The Banten Provincial Administration allegedly
conjured up bogus projects for the Tangerang Municipality worth
Rp 3.5 billion, The Association of Tangerang Non-Governmental
Organizations said on Tuesday.

Association chairman Adi Warman said it had reported the
fictitious works to the Attorney General's Office.

"Last week we reported the fictitious projects valued at Rp
3.5 billion," Adi told Antara.

The projects include a Rp 1 billion mangrove conservation
initiative, a Rp 1 billion clean up of Ciledug and Pamulang lakes
and a fencing project at the Balaraja bus terminal worth Rp 392.2
million.

"In fact, Tangerang has no mangrove forest, while the other
two projects are located in Tangerang regency not Tangerang
municipality." --JP
