Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital, Nezar Patria, stated that the National Artificial Intelligence (AI) Roadmap will serve as a reference for ministries and government agencies in regulating AI usage and innovation specifically within each sector.

“Therefore, ministries, agencies, or institutions developing AI will cascade this down by sector. They will create their own specific guidelines,” he said after attending a plenary session at the Nusantara II Building, Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, on Tuesday.

Nezar cited that the healthcare, education, and financial services sectors require specific guidelines for AI usage and innovation regulation.

Relevant ministries and government agencies will prepare regulations for the utilisation and innovation of AI in every sector, referring to the regulations regarding the National AI Roadmap.

The government is currently discussing the draft Presidential Regulation concerning the National Artificial Intelligence Roadmap alongside relevant ministries and agencies.

“It is currently being discussed inter-ministerially, as we can see the scope is quite broad,” said Neformed Nezar.

The government is paying close attention to transparency, accountability, and security regarding the utilisation and development of this technology.

Nezar expressed that the application of national values in AI development is also a priority.

“Because we know that in the creation of large language models, those values are very important. This is to ensure there is no bias and no discrimination,” he said.

“We also emphasise the importance of adopting our national values, such as Pancasila,” he added.

Nezar stated that the National AI Roadmap will eventually serve as the general guide for both the utilisation and the development of AI innovation in Indonesia.
