Next Year Connected by Toll Road, Betung to Jambi Only 3 Hours

PT Hutama Karya Infrastruktur (HKI) continues the construction of the Trans-Sumatra Toll Road (JTTS) through the Betung-Jambi Toll Road project, sections 2A and 2B. The presence of this toll road section is projected to reduce travel time from Betung to Jambi to around 2.5 to 3 hours. HKI’s Director of Operations III, Defi Adrian, stated that the construction of this toll road is part of efforts to strengthen inter-regional connectivity in South Sumatra while supporting smooth mobility for the community and logistics distribution. “The Betung-Jambi Toll Road sections 2A and 2B each have lengths of 37.4 kilometres and 18.4 kilometres, which will connect two sub-districts, between Sungai Lilin Sub-district and Bayung Lencir Sub-district,” said Defi in a press release on Sunday (10/5/2026). According to Defi, with the connection of the entire Betung-Jambi toll road, the journey that previously took around 5 to 7 hours via the national road can be reduced to about 2.5 to 3 hours. The presence of rest areas is expected to provide comfort for road users during the trip. In addition to improving connectivity, the existence of this toll road is also expected to accelerate logistics flow, thereby contributing to a reduction in operational costs, distribution time efficiency, and encouraging regional economic growth. “Better connectivity is also expected to open up more development opportunities for the area and business activities around it,” added Defi. The implementation of this project is also said to have a positive impact on the surrounding community through the absorption of local labour, involvement of local work partners, and an increase in the economic turnover of small and medium enterprises around the project area. HKI targets the completion of the Betung-Jambi Toll Road section 2B in June 2027, while section 2A is planned to be completed in December 2027. With the support of all parties, HKI hopes that the entire construction process of the Betung-Jambi Toll Road sections 2A and 2B can run smoothly so that its benefits can soon be felt by the wider community.
