News on Salary Increase for TNI and Polri Personnel? Presidential Spokesperson: We Want Everything to Improve
JAKARTA – Presidential spokesperson Prasetyo Hadi has stated that the government wishes to improve the welfare of all state officials, including TNI soldiers and members of the National Police (Polri). However, this policy can only be realised whilst taking the state’s fiscal capacity into consideration.
When asked about the possibility of a salary increase for TNI soldiers and Polri members, Prasetyo said that the government fundamentally wants to improve the welfare of all state officials. “We truly want everything to improve, not only for the TNI and Polri,” he told journalists at the Parliamentary Complex in Senayan, Central Jakarta, on Wednesday (15/7/2026).
He affirmed that improving welfare is a form of appreciation for the duties carried out by state officials. This reflects the intention expressed by President Prabowo Subianto to raise the salaries of state officials to a decent level.
“Of course, for them to carry out their duties, it is part of showing appreciation. That is why, if you notice, the first thing the President did was for the judges — the judges came first. And all of this is being adjusted according to our fiscal capacity,” said Prasetyo.
The Minister of State Secretary explained that improving welfare must be supported by strengthening the national economy and increasing state revenue. He said the government is preparing various mutually integrated policies to ensure that greater economic benefits are enjoyed by the state.
“That is why we must drive the economy. Driving the economy means working hard to ensure that we control the economy, and that the state gains as much of the benefit as possible. That is why we established Danantara,” said Prasetyo.
In addition, he continued, the government is implementing a one-door export policy to curb the practices of under-invoicing, under-reporting, and transfer pricing. This step is considered effective in preventing potential losses of hundreds of trillions of rupiah, which have reduced state revenue.
“These discrepancies are what affect the state’s income. So these policies are indeed integrated, meaning they do not stand alone; everything is interconnected,” Prasetyo explained.
