Newmont Gold gets new managers
SYDNEY (Reuter): Newmont Gold Co said yesterday it has made several management changes at its Batu Hijau copper/gold project in Indonesia, as well as its operations in Carlin, Nevada.
Eric Hamer, vice president of North American operations, had been named vice president and senior project executive for Batu Hijau, the company said in a statement issued in Denver and released here.
Newmont Gold said that at mid-year Hamer would succeed John A.S. Dow as president director of PT Newmont Nusa Tenggara, the Newmont subsidiary encompassing the Batu Hijau project.
Hamer would be responsible for all matters involving development of the Batu Hijau project and divide his time between Denver and Indonesia, Newmont said.
Newmont Gold said Dow would continue in his role as vice president and regional director, Indonesia and Southeast Asia.
He is also President Director of Newmont Minahasa Raya, the Newmont subsidiary presently commissioning the Minahasa gold mine in Indonesia.
Succeeding Hamer as vice president of North American operations was W. James Mullin, currently vice president and regional director, Nevada operations.
Mullin retains management responsibility for the Carlin mining operations, as well as overseeing Newmont joint ventures in Mexico and Alaska, and metallurgical services.
Newmont Gold said Tom Enos had been named Carlin general manager, succeeding Mullin in overseeing day-to-day operations at Carlin.
Newmont Gold is 90 percent owned by Newmont Mining Corp.
