Newmont donates Rp 1.2b
JAKARTA (JP): Mining company PT Newmont Minahasa Raya said yesterday it would donate Rp 1.2 billion (about US$92,000) in funds for the welfare of the people of Minahasa, North Sulawesi.
The company's general manager, Paul Lahti, said the funds would be disbursed in monthly installments for a period of three years effective Jan. 1 this year.
The funds will be managed by the local administration of the Minahasa regency, he added.
Newmont operates a gold mine in Mesel, Minahasa. (das)
