A regency road connecting Tempos village with Banyu Urip village, Gerung sub-district, West Lombok, Nusa Tenggara Barat (NTB), collapsed after being hit by river currents due to heavy rain over the past few days, on Thursday (26/2/2026). The road had only recently been repaired at the end of 2025 by the central government.

“Yes, the road that was just completed has collapsed because it was eroded by the river water,” said the Head of Tempos village, Sudirman, on Thursday (26/2/2026).

Sudirman said that almost half of the road, which is 3 meters wide, had collapsed due to the strong river currents. He also estimated that the length of the collapsed section of the road was about 10 meters.

As a result, Sudirman said that the road is currently temporarily closed to four-wheeled vehicles and can only be used by two-wheeled vehicles, although it must be monitored.

“For the time being, the road is closed to four-wheeled vehicles; only motorcycles can pass,” he said.

He said that he had reported the incident to the Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) and the Public Works, Spatial Planning, Housing and Settlement Agency (PUPRKP) of West Lombok, so that it could be handled immediately.

Sudirman asked the relevant parties to immediately build an emergency embankment to prevent the road from collapsing completely. He said that the road is the closest access for residents to the main road or to the urban area.

“If it breaks, the children who go to school far away will have to take a longer route, and access to the center of government will also be far,” he said.
