Newly Appointed Jampidsus Kuntadi Faces Major Cases and Public Trust Restoration

Kuntadi has officially assumed the role of Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) at the Attorney General’s Office. Less than a day after his inauguration, he is immediately confronted with significant tasks, ranging from resolving strategic cases of public interest to restoring institutional trust following legal issues involving his predecessor, Febrie Adriansyah.

In his first statement after being sworn in at the Attorney General’s Office in Jakarta on Friday, 24 July 2026, Kuntadi stressed that his immediate focus would be on internal consolidation and a comprehensive evaluation of all ongoing case handling. He stated that this directive came directly from the Attorney General to accelerate the resolution of major cases.

‘We are conducting consolidation both internally and externally, as well as evaluating all ongoing case handling,’ Kuntadi said.

He acknowledged that several cases under public scrutiny would be his top priority. Kuntadi committed to ensuring that the acceleration of these strategic cases would not compromise legal principles. ‘The priority is to maintain integrity, objectivity, and transparency,’ he asserted.

Kuntadi’s appointment comes at a time when the deputy attorney general for special crimes office is under intense public scrutiny. The Attorney General’s Office has confirmed that the legal process against former Jampidsus Febrie Adriansyah will continue concurrently with Kuntadi’s new leadership.
