Newcomers to South Tangerang After Eid Holiday Must Report to RT/RW, Anticipating Urbanisation Surge

South Tangerang - The South Tangerang City Government has requested that newcomers entering its territory after the Eid holiday report to the local RT and RW administrators. This step is intended to support data collection while anticipating the effects of urbanisation. South Tangerang Mayor Benyamin Davnie stated that such reporting is crucial so that the government can conduct oversight and respond to various social and security issues. “If there are people urbanising to South Tangerang, at least they should report themselves to the local RT/RW and register,” Benyamin said on Tuesday (24/3/2026). “So that if anything happens, we can handle it properly,” he added. Benyamin views post-Eid urbanisation as an unavoidable phenomenon. Nevertheless, he advised residents returning from their hometowns not to bring extra people without proper planning. “One of the appeals we are making is, if you went home as a group of four, return as four, don’t make it six,” he said. Therefore, the approach focuses more on control through data collection. “(Urbanisation) cannot be prohibited, but we hope the economy in the areas of origin is also good,” Benyamin stated.
