Newcomers in West Jakarta urged to handle population administration
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The West Jakarta Civil Registry and Population Records Sub-Department (Dukcapil) is urging residents arriving from outside Jakarta (newcomers) after Eid al-Fitr to handle their population administration (adminduk) and synchronise population data.
“Newcomers should report their arrival to the Dukcapil office in their sub-district to have their population administration processed,” said the Head of the West Jakarta Dukcapil Sub-Department, Gentina Arifin, when contacted in Jakarta on Wednesday.
Her office will provide conveniences in services for those who report.
“If residents move to Jakarta, their arrival will be processed; if they stay in Jakarta for no more than one year without the intention to settle permanently, they will be given non-permanent population documents,” she said.
She hopes that newcomers will participate in realising an administratively orderly Jakarta.
According to information from the DKI Jakarta Civil Registry and Population Records Department, the number of new arrivals post-Eid al-Fitr, from 25 to 31 March 2026, totals 1,335 people, comprising 677 men and 658 women.
Of that number, new arrivals in West Jakarta total 353 people. The destinations of the arrivals are mainly the Kalideres and Cengkareng sub-districts.
Previously, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government urged that new arrivals in Jakarta must have employment or housing guarantees.
DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung predicted an increase in the number of arrivals to the capital post-Eid al-Fitr. It is estimated that 10,000 to 12,000 people will come to Jakarta with relatives or family.
“And we always ask anyone coming to Jakarta to prepare themselves,” he said.
