Newborns Can Now Receive Birth Certificates Immediately

Obtaining a birth certificate no longer requires a lengthy wait. The integration of the SATUSEHAT platform with the Population Administration Information System (SIAK) means newborns, whether delivered in hospitals or community health centres (puskesmas), can receive a birth certificate immediately. Birth data from hospitals or puskesmas can now be directly connected to SIAK and processed into a civil document.

“Once the SATUSEHAT data system is integrated with the system that issues birth certificates, and we can create the digital version, it connects directly. The child is born, and on that very day we immediately issue the birth certificate,” said Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian during the launch of the Digitalisation of Birth Certificate Issuance through SATUSEHAT-SIAK Integration at Pasar Minggu Community Health Centre, Jakarta, on Tuesday, 11 August 2026.

For Minister of State Apparatus Empowerment and Bureaucratic Reform Rini Widyantini, a birth certificate is not merely an administrative document; it is a child’s first identity and the gateway to various public services. “When a child is born, the state must not arrive late. The state must be present from the very first day that child is born,” Rini stated.

This integration represents a new step by the government to deliver faster, integrated civil administration services with minimal manual processes. The real-time birth certificate issuance flow begins with a birth at a health facility under the Ministry of Health or local government. The birth data is then recorded by the health facility through the Hospital Management Information System (SIMRS). The data is subsequently sent and validated via the Ministry of Health’s SATUSEHAT platform. The data is then integrated with the Dukcapil SIAK for the issuance of the birth certificate. The certificate is issued and sent directly via email or WhatsApp, or can be collected directly from the health facility.

Director General of Population and Civil Registration at the Ministry of Home Affairs Teguh Setyabudi said this integration is a tangible manifestation of the transformation of civil administration services to be faster, easier, more accurate, and increasingly integrated. “This is certainly one of the achievements in the implementation of the Digital ID Programme funded by the World Bank,” he said. Through the Digital Population Identity (IKD) application, the public can apply for birth certificates more easily and quickly.
