New Zone Nightclub Owner Wanted in Drug Trafficking Case
Eddy alias Awie, owner of the New Zone nightclub in Medan, North Sumatra, is wanted by police over suspected drug trafficking.
Director of the Narcotics Crimes Directorate (Dirtipidnarkoba) at Bareskrim Polri, Brigadier General Eko Hadi Santoso, confirmed Eddy has been listed as a wanted person (DPO) by the agency.
“Eddy, alias Awie, as the owner of New Zone nightclub in Medan, is also the dealer supplying narcotics to patrons of the establishment,” he stated on Saturday, 30 May 2026.
According to the DPO document, Eddy is a businessman residing at Cemara Asri Complex in Deli Serdang, North Sumatra. His physical description includes a height of 170 centimetres, weight of 85 kilograms, approximately 50 years old, thin straight hair, black almond-shaped eyes, large nose, slightly overweight, and fair skin.
Eddy faces charges under Article 114(1) in conjunction with Article 132(1) and/or Article 131 of Law No. 35 of 2009 on Narcotics, in conjunction with Law No. 1 of 2023 on the Criminal Code (KUHP), and Law No. 1 of 2026 on Penalty Adjustments; or Article 609(1)(a) of Law No. 1 of 2023 on KUHP in conjunction with Law No. 1 of 2026 on Penalty Adjustments, and Article 132(1) of Law No. 35 of 2009 on Narcotics in conjunction with Article 20(c) of Law No. 1 of 2023 on KUHP.
Previously, the Narcotics Crimes Directorate (Dittipidnarkoba) of Bareskrim Polri uncovered a suspected drug trafficking case at New Zone nightclub in Medan.
Brigadier General Eko Hadi Santoso said a joint team from Subdirectorate IV and the Narcotic Investigation Center (NIC) conducted a raid at the venue early Saturday at 3:25 AM WIB.
“A number of narcotics were seized from the scene,” he stated in a press release from Jakarta on Saturday.
In addition to the seized drugs, he added, investigators arrested 34 individuals including the owner, manager, staff, adult patrons, and underage patrons.
“Urine tests were conducted on the 34 detained individuals, with some testing positive for drug use,” he said.
