New Year's Eve supervision

JAKARTA (JP): South Jakarta mayoralty will deploy 120 officers
to supervise entertainment activities at 48 amusement centers, mostly
in Blok M, Mayestik and Kebayoran Lama, on New Year's Eve.

South Jakarta Mayor Pardjoko yesterday said the officers will be
in charge of monitoring whether or not amusement centers violate
existing regulations.

Pardjoko said that based on Governor's Instruction No. 445/1994,
all entertainment presentations must have permits from the city
government and city police.

Foreign performers must also be registered at the Entertainment
Activities Evaluation Committee of the directorate general of
tourism, he said.

Pardjoko also urged the public to report any entertainment
violations to his office. (hhr)
