Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - The United States (US) has resumed its claimed war on drugs in America and the Pacific. On Monday (27/4/2026), the US military stated that three people were killed when they attacked a ship “involved in drug trafficking operations” in the Eastern Pacific Ocean.

This latest strike has raised the number of fatalities in the US campaign to at least 185 people, according to figures compiled by AFP. Previously, dozens of similar indiscriminate attacks have been launched by the US in recent months.

“The ship that was attacked was operated by a Designated Terrorist Organisation,” said the US military’s Southern Command (SOUTHCOM).

“Intelligence confirms that the ship was traversing a known drug trafficking route.”

In reality, the Trump administration has yet to provide definitive evidence that the ships it has attacked since September are involved in drug trafficking. This has sparked debate about the legality of these operations.

Legal experts and human rights groups argue that the attacks could be considered extrajudicial killings because they appear to target civilians who pose no immediate threat to the United States. In a post on X on Sunday, SOUTHCOM stated that no US military personnel were injured in the operation.
