New TPA Suwung Rules Trigger Action by Garbage Truck Drivers Forcing Entry
A video depicting the actions of several garbage truck drivers allegedly forcing their way into the TPA Suwung area has gone viral on social media. The incident is believed to stem from the implementation of new rules at TPA Suwung.
In response, Denpasar Police Chief Kombes Leonardo David Simatupang personally visited the site on Thursday (2/4/2026) to assess the situation. The inspection was conducted to ensure that security and public order remain conducive following the introduction of the new policy at TPA Suwung. Since 1 April 2026, the landfill has only accepted inorganic waste and residues, while organic waste is no longer permitted.
From field monitoring by police personnel, the waste acceptance process is now running smoothly. Trucks that meet the waste sorting requirements are given a sticker on the windscreen as proof of verification.
The Denpasar Police Chief also directly coordinated with the Acting Head of the TPA Suwung Waste Management UPTD to ensure that all vehicles, whether from government services or self-managed, comply with the new rules.
Personnel from the Denpasar Selatan Police Sector have been deployed around the landfill area to anticipate potential security disturbances following the viral video on social media.
The Denpasar Police Public Relations Officer, Iptu I Gede Adi Saputra Jaya, stated that the situation at TPA Suwung is currently safe and under control.
“We urge all truck drivers and related parties to continue complying with the established policy, so that waste management can proceed orderly without causing public order disturbances,” said Adi on Thursday (2/4/2026).
He emphasised that the presence of police apparatus at the location aims to provide a sense of security while ensuring that the separated waste management policy runs optimally.
Previously, the video circulating on social media drew public attention as it showed alleged actions by the truck drivers forcing entry into the landfill area amid the enforcement of the new rules.
