New Toll Road to Slice Through Jakarta and West Java, Ending Bandung Traffic Jams

PT Hutama Karya Infrastruktur (HKI), a member of the WIKA-PP-KMK-HKI joint operation, is accelerating construction of the Jakarta-Cikampek II South Toll Road Package 2A to ensure the project remains on schedule. As of late June 2026, physical progress has reached 84 percent, marking significant advancement in completing the route. HKI Corporate Secretary Resnu Aditya Wuladaran stated that major works currently underway include rigid pavement construction on the main road in Zones 3 and 4. The company is also preparing structural works, with one of the most challenging tasks being the installation of girders in areas intersecting the operational Cimanggis-Cibitung Tollways. This activity requires intensive coordination with various stakeholders due to the high-risk nature of working adjacent to active traffic. Of the total 24 girder spans, four remain to be completed on Ramps 3, 5, and 1, with the highest point on Ramp 1 reaching approximately 28 metres. Resnu emphasised that the execution prioritises occupational safety, technical supervision, and traffic engineering to ensure construction proceeds safely and under control. The new toll road is expected to enhance connectivity, supporting public mobility and logistics distribution across Jakarta, West Java, and surrounding areas. It will serve as a vital alternative to reduce traffic loads on the main Jakarta-Cikampek corridor, a key national strategic route. The entire Jakarta-Cikampek II South Toll Road project is slated for completion in 2027, linking Sadang in Purwakarta with Jatiasih in Bekasi over 62 kilometres, thereby cutting travel time to Bandung.
