New Toll Road to Slice Through Jakarta and West Java, Ending Bandung Traffic Jams
PT Hutama Karya Infrastruktur (HKI), part of the WIKA-PP-KMK-HKI consortium, continues to accelerate construction of the Jakarta-Cikampek II South Toll Road Package 2A to ensure the project stays on its targeted schedule.
As of the end of June 2026, progress in the field was reported to have reached 84 per cent, marking significant headway in completing the Package 2A toll section.
“HKI is currently undertaking several major works on the Jakarta-Cikampek II South Toll Road Package 2A project. One of the major tasks in focus is the concrete road pavement, or rigid pavement, in the main road areas of Zone 3 and Zone 4,” said HKI Corporate Secretary Resnu Aditya Wuladarman in a statement issued on Saturday (18/7/2026).
Resnu added that, alongside the pavement works, HKI is also preparing structural works, an important stage in completing the project. Another particularly challenging task is the installation of girders in areas directly interfacing with the already operational Cimanggis-Cibitung Tollways (CCT).
That work requires intensive coordination with various stakeholders, as it is being carried out in a high-risk area near live traffic.
“Of the 24 girder spans in total, four remain to be completed at Ramp 3, Ramp 5 and Ramp 1, with the highest point at Ramp 1 reaching approximately 28 metres. Given the challenges HKI faces, the works are being carried out with priority given to occupational safety, technical supervision and traffic engineering so that construction proceeds safely and in a controlled manner,” Resnu added.
The Jakarta-Cikampek II South Toll Road Package 2A is expected to strengthen connectivity, particularly in supporting public mobility and logistics distribution across Jakarta, West Java and surrounding areas.
The toll road will also serve as an important alternative to improve accessibility and reduce the traffic burden on the main Jakarta-Cikampek corridor, long one of the nation’s strategic routes. The Jakarta-Cikampek (Japek) II South toll project is targeted for completion in 2027. The 62 km section will connect Sadang in Purwakarta with Jatiasih in Bekasi, thereby shortening travel times to Bandung.
