The construction project for the Yogyakarta-Bawen Toll Road continues to advance, following the successful functional opening of Section 6, the Ambarawa-Bawen stretch, during the 2026 Eid al-Fitr homecoming and return traffic. PT Jasamarga Jogja Bawen, the toll road business entity responsible for building the Yogyakarta-Bawen Toll Road, has revealed that progress on Section 2, the Banyurejo-Borobudur stretch, is now becoming evident.

“Following the construction of Section 1 (Sleman-Banyurejo) and Section 6 (Ambarawa-Bawen), Section 2 (Banyurejo-Borobudur) now emerges as part of the sequence designed to strengthen inter-regional connectivity in stages,” stated Jasamarga Jogja Bawen via its official Instagram @jasamargajogjabawen.official, quoted on Sunday (26/4/2026).

Section 2 stretches 15.2 km, connecting the Banyurejo area in Sleman to the Borobudur region in Magelang, Central Java.

As of March 2026, Section 2 remains in the land acquisition phase, with progress reaching 92.42%. Work is focused on land clearing and preparations for drilling foundations as the initial stage of physical construction.

“Section 2 serves as part of efforts to strengthen access from Sleman to Magelang, while also supporting mobility and tourism in the surrounding areas,” explained Jasamarga Jogja Bawen.

The construction of Section 2 is expected to connect with all sections of the Yogyakarta-Bawen Toll Road, thereby creating more comprehensive connectivity and delivering wider benefits to the community.

“We remain committed to delivering quality infrastructure to support mobility and regional growth in the Special Region of Yogyakarta and Central Java,” it concluded.

For information, the construction of the Yogyakarta-Bawen Toll Road is divided into six sections: Section 1 Sleman-Banyurejo spanning 8.25 km, Section 2 Banyurejo-Borobudur spanning 15.26 km, Section 3 Borobudur-Magelang 8.08 km, Section 4 Magelang-Temanggung spanning 16.26 km, Section 5 Temanggung-Ambarawa spanning 22.56 km, and Section 6 Ambarawa-Bawen spanning 5.21 km.
