New terminal tryout starts Saturday

TANGERANG: Tangerang Municipality Administration had to delay the operational tryout of a newly completed integrated bus terminal in Poris Plawad, Batu Ceper district, Tangerang, due to lack of preparation.

Head of the Tangerang Transportation Agency Jamanat Purba said that the tryout, which was scheduled for Nov. 18, had to be postponed because of the absence of supporting infrastructure, including traffic signs and access to the new terminal.

"The tryout will start tomorrow (Saturday) and the supporting infrastructure will be complete," he said on Friday.

Around 100 officers drawn from the military, police, city land transportation agency, public order agency and the Organization of Land Transportation Owners (Organda) will be deployed at 20 points heading to the new terminal.

Purba said all public transportation would be directed to the new terminal, starting from Saturday.

The existing Cimone bus terminal will serve only as the city bus terminal. Public minivans and intercity buses will be directed to the new Poris Plawad terminal. -- JP
