New telephone service announced

JAKARTA (JP): In an effort to better serve the public, the Fourth Telecommunications Division of the Telephone Service Office has provided the "Local Information 108" telephone service with new equipment.

The equipment, which will make it easier for people using the Local Information 108 service, went into operation on Thursday, Djaman Sinaga, spokesman for the office, announced yesterday.

Djaman said when people dial 108 and hear it ringing in, that means that they have actually connected with the information office. If the Local Information 108 operators are busy when a call comes in, the caller will now hear a message that says: "Your phone call has been received, please wait for a moment." (bas)
