New Tangerang chief prosecutor

TANGERANG (JP): Nelson Edward Worotikan was installed as the
new Tangerang chief prosecutor yesterday, replacing AH Ritonga,
who will be posted at the Attorney General's Office in Jakarta.

Chief of the West Java Provincial Prosecutor's Office Abdul
Rahem urged the new chief prosecutor to speed up the process of
various cases, ranging from corruption and collusion to
manipulation and malfeasance, which cause the government big
financial losses.

Abdul Rahem said that the existence of the Soekarno-Hatta
International Airport in Tangerang had resulted in the rising
number of illegal trading activities, especially the smuggling of
Ecstasy pills.

"In the period between July 1996 and September this year, at
least 45 cases of Ecstasy smuggling were uncovered," he said.
