New Suspect in MBG Case: Close Associate of Sony Who Arranged SPPG Locations
The Director of Investigations at the Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes, Syarief Sulaeman Nahdi, announced on Thursday (11/6/2026) that a new suspect, identified as AYS, has been named in the case. AYS is a private party who was allegedly recruited by Sony Sonjaya, the former Deputy Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN). AYS is suspected of seeking partners for the implementation of the free nutritious meal programme (MBG).
Syarief explained that Sony allegedly provided AYS with unlawful access to intervene with the MBG partner verification team. This allowed them to identify vacant kitchen locations and manipulate the status of prospective Nutrition Fulfilment Service Units (SPPG) that had already been approved on the MBG partner portal, resulting in their registration being cancelled. AYS is also accused of facilitating new SPPG applicants on the portal even after the registration period had closed. Following this manipulation of SPPG locations, AYS allegedly gave a sum of money to Sony.
In addition to naming the new suspect, the Attorney General’s Office conducted searches at several locations in Jakarta and Bandung. Syarief stated that the searches targeted offices and residences, including the homes of the suspects in Bandung. Investigators are focusing on securing documents and electronic evidence related to the actions of the suspects to strengthen the existing body of evidence.
The Attorney General’s Office had previously named three suspects in this case: former BGN Head Dadan Hindayana, former BGN Deputy Head Sony Sonjaya, and former BGN Deputy Head Lodewyk Pusung. Investigators suspect irregularities in the management of the MBG programme, including affiliations between the suspects and foundations managing the SPPGs, as well as alleged mark-ups in the procurement of electric motorcycles, shoes, tablets, and televisions.
