New Student Admission System for Elementary and Junior High Schools in Cimahi City to Launch Soon, Mayor: No Favouritism!
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, CIMAHI – The Cimahi City Government has begun preparations for the New Student Admission System (SPMB) 2026/2027 for elementary and junior high school levels. The Mayor of Cimahi, Ngatiyana, emphasised that this year’s SPMB will be conducted fairly and without any form of favouritism, data manipulation, bribery, or gratification.
“For this SPMB, no money will be involved whatsoever. There will be no more favouritism, no behind-the-scenes dealings. If anyone is caught, we will take legal action,” said Ngatiyana when confirmed on Sunday (17/5/2026).
Ngatiyana explained that the capacity for both elementary and junior high school levels in Cimahi City is sufficient. For the elementary level, the capacity reaches 9,742 students, covering state elementary schools, private elementary schools, and private Madrasah Ibtidaiyah.
“From this total capacity, it is estimated that there will be 9,740 new students from within and outside the city. As for the junior high school level and equivalent, the capacity reaches 11,284 students, with an estimated 10,523 new students from within and outside the city,” said Ngatiyana.
He explained that the SPMB for the 2026/2027 academic year will be opened through four pathways: domicile, affirmative action, achievement, and transfer. Ngatiyana explained that these four schemes are designed to provide the widest possible access for every child throughout Cimahi City to receive a proper education.
To ensure equitable absorption of prospective students without exception, said Ngatiyana, the SPMB will be carried out by adhering firmly to the principles of objectivity, transparency, accountability, fairness, and non-discrimination. “Thus, there is no reason for any child to not get their right to complete their education, especially at the elementary and junior high school levels,” he said.
