JAKARTA - Paying vehicle taxes is no longer as complicated as before. Residents in Depok and Bekasi only need to bring the STNK, without the hassle of finding the original owner’s ID card.

This policy has been in effect since 6 April 2026. The West Java Provincial Government has eliminated the requirement to bring the original owner’s ID for annual motor vehicle tax payments.

The regulation is contained in Circular Letter Number: 47/KU.03.02/BAPENDA.

West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi stated that this policy was introduced to make things easier for the public.

The regulation states that the person in possession of the vehicle can still pay the tax even if they are not the original owner.

Taxpayers only need to bring the STNK and the ID of the person in possession of the vehicle, or carry out a name transfer.

This policy targets issues that have frequently arisen, particularly with used vehicles that have changed hands several times.

Dedi explained that many residents have difficulty paying taxes because they do not have the original owner’s ID for the vehicle.

Previously, the West Java Provincial Government had also eliminated the requirement to bring the BPKB for annual vehicle tax payments in the Depok and Bekasi areas.

For annual tax payments, residents only need to bring:

Meanwhile, for five-yearly tax payments, the public is still required to bring the original BPKB.

The West Java Provincial Government also encourages the public to utilise digital services through the SIGNAL application.

Through this application, vehicle tax payments can be made online without having to visit the Samsat office, as long as the applicable requirements are met.

This convenience is expected to increase public awareness and compliance in paying motor vehicle taxes.
