Construction of a new route to replace the landslide-closed Saleh Danasasmita Road in Batutulis, Bogor, has begun. Bogor Mayor Dedie Rachim confirmed heavy machinery has started arriving on site. ‘I have observed heavy equipment gradually entering the area, with construction work now underway,’ he said in Bogor on Friday, 29 May 2026. The new road, measuring 300 metres in length and 8 metres in width, will be built near the original route, maintaining partial connectivity. The project, funded by the West Java Provincial Budget (APBD) at Rp21.2 billion, includes construction works, slope reinforcement, and pedestrian pathways. Mayor Dedie also mentioned plans to transform the former road site into Batutulis Forest and a park, alongside improvements to Lawanggintung Street, which connects to the original road. ‘The goal is to complete these works as part of a single package with the new Batutulis route, so they are expected to finish simultaneously. I have instructed the sub-district head to enforce clean-up and demolition works to ensure everything is tidy and well-arranged by the time of the inauguration,’ he said. Saleh Danasasmita Road was permanently closed following a landslide in early March 2025, disrupting access to southern Bogor, Sukabumi border areas, educational institutions, hospitals, and central markets. Residents have been using alternative routes through residential zones, significantly increasing travel times.
