New Roblox Rules for Children Aged 5-12 in Indonesia

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - The online gaming platform Roblox Corporation has announced the implementation of two age-based account types for young users: Roblox Kids and Roblox Select. This policy will begin rollout in early June 2026 as part of strengthening child and adolescent protection on the platform. In Indonesia, the account age restrictions differ from the global scheme. Roblox Kids is designated for users aged 5-12, while Roblox Select is for those aged 13-15. Meanwhile, under the global scheme, Roblox Kids is intended for users aged 5-8, and Roblox Select for those aged 9-15. In Indonesia, Roblox continues to collaborate with the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (Komdigi) to create a positive online space for the community to learn, create, and have fun. This update will combine various control mechanisms, including age checks, basic settings tailored to each account, content ratings, and expanded parental controls into a single integrated dashboard for younger users. In Indonesia, all accounts owned by users under 16 will require verified parental consent (verified parental consent/VPC), and accounts for users under 16 that have not been verified by parents or guardians will not have access to chat features or games with Moderate ratings or above. Based on Roblox’s selection criteria, users under 16 who undergo the verification process will still be able to access most of their favourite games. Additionally, users over 16 who complete the verification process will experience no changes to their Roblox usage.
