The South Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road will be functionally opened during the Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah return flow. This measure aims to reduce congestion on the existing Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road, which has long been the main route for holidaymakers returning home.

PT Jasamarga Japek Selatan’s President Director, Charles Lendra, explained that the functional scheme is focused on vehicles coming from the Cipularang Toll direction. This scheme is expected to divert some traffic flow and reduce congestion at the junction with the existing toll road.

“Since 15 March, the South Japek Toll Road has actually been ready to be traversed, although its use for the return flow will be based on police control. However, we are still preparing ourselves,” he said in Cikarang on Wednesday.

He noted that this year’s functional access has a longer reach compared to the 2025 mudik period. The toll road section spans 52 kilometres, from Sadang Toll Gate on the Cipularang Toll to Setu Subdistrict in Bekasi Regency.

From Setu, holidaymakers can continue their journey to Jakarta Outer Ring Road (JORR) 2 via the Cimanggis-Cibitung Toll. Access is achieved by exiting at Setu and re-entering via Burangkeng Toll Gate.

“Currently, there is no direct connection from South Japek to Cimanggis-Cibitung. But drivers can exit first via Setu and then re-enter at Burangkeng Toll Gate. The distance is very close, about 100-150 metres,” he said.

Charles assured that there will be no additional toll fees during the functional operation. Transactions will only be made at Sadang Gate for the Cipularang Toll fare. The journey from Sadang to Setu will be free of charge.

The operator has also prepared three alternative toll gates: Kutanagara Gate in Karawang, as well as Bojongmangu Gate and Sukaragam Gate in Bekasi.

Bojongmangu Gate is predicted to be a favourite point. It has a larger gate capacity, and its arterial route connects directly to the Deltamas industrial area. Drivers can return to the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road via Cikarang Pusat Gate or Cibatu Gate.

Charles assessed that the current road conditions are better prepared than in previous years. Public lighting has been optimised, and signage has been enhanced.

Supporting facilities have also been prepared. The operator provides a rest area in the form of a parking bay after Bojongmangu Gate. This location is equipped with modular fuel, food, drinks, and MSME products.

“In addition to the rest area in the form of a parking bay located after Bojongmangu Gate, there is also modular fuel for drivers whose vehicles run out of fuel, as well as places to rest with food, drinks, and MSME products,” he said.

Traffic monitoring is strengthened with the installation of 12 real-time surveillance cameras.

An operational fleet is also on standby 24 hours a day. Services include patrol vehicles, ambulances, rescue teams, and tow trucks to assist holidaymakers on their journey.
