New resort in Riau

JAKARTA (JP): Singapore-based Riau Investment Resources Pte
Ltd will develop a multimillion dollar tourist resort in
Bengkalis, Riau.

Company president Mohamed bin Osman said Riau Investment
Resources had been approved by the Riau administration to develop
the resort on a 3,000-hectare plot owned by its partner PT Datuk
Laksamana Raja Dilaut Bukit Batu Bengkalis.

"Eight Singaporean firms have expressed interest in
participating in the project," he said as quoted by Bisnis
Indonesia daily yesterday.

He said Riau Investment Resources was also looking for other
partners to develop other businesses in Bengkalis.

Joint ventures between Indonesian and Singaporean firms have
also developed resorts on the islands of Bintan and Batam. (icn)
