New Release, Resident Evil Requiem Breaks Steam Records
KOMPAS.com reports that the latest horror game Resident Evil Requiem (Resident Evil 9) has become the best-selling Resident Evil title on the Steam game distribution platform. According to SteamDB statistics tracked by KompasTekno on Monday (2 March 2026), Resident Evil Requiem reached an all-time peak of 344,214 players. This surpasses the all-time peaks of other Resident Evil titles released on Steam, such as Resident Evil 4 Remake (2023) with 168,191 players and Resident Evil Village (2021) with a peak of 106,631. In addition to the all-time peak, RE9 also recorded the highest 24-hour peak after release. By Monday morning around 09:30 WIB, more than 200,000 players were simultaneously active, as shown in the image above. Since the game released on Friday (27 February 2026), the numbers could change or increase in the future. The numbers above reflect Steam players only. Resident Evil Requiem is also available on PC via the Epic Games Store, and released for next-generation consoles such as Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. While overall platform player counts are not yet known, RE9’s Steam performance indicates strong demand for the title priced at Rp 910,000. Historically, such records on Steam are a positive early indicator of overall sales and market enthusiasm for a new game.
