New Qatari Ambassador Sultan bin Mubarak Visits Jokowi in Solo
Qatar’s new Ambassador to Indonesia, Sultan bin Mubarak Saad Al-Dosari, visited the residence of Indonesia’s seventh President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) in Sumber, Banjarsari, Solo, Central Java, on Friday. Based on observations at the location, Jokowi received the ambassador for approximately one hour. Following the meeting, Jokowi stated that they had a light conversation and he inquired about the current situation and conditions in the Middle East. “I mainly just asked about the latest situation in the Middle East,” Jokowi said after the meeting. Meanwhile, Ambassador Sultan bin Mubarak said his meeting with Jokowi had been scheduled beforehand. He mentioned he had previously communicated with Jokowi via teleconference. “I just visited because it was scheduled beforehand,” Sultan bin Mubarak said. The visit was conducted to foster good relations between the two nations, especially since he has only been serving as Qatar’s ambassador to Indonesia for a few months. Sultan bin Mubarak was appointed as Qatar’s ambassador to Indonesia by Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani in late 2025. His letter of appointment was received by the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and he was among the ambassadors who presented their credentials to President Prabowo Subianto at the State Palace in Jakarta on 9 June 2026.
