New Profession Emerges: Teaching Robots to Wash Dishes, Earns Monthly Salary in Dollars
The development of artificial intelligence in recent years has transformed many aspects of human life, including the world of work. One new profession that is becoming increasingly recognised is the robot trainer, a job that focuses on teaching robots to perform tasks like humans. Examples vary, ranging from simple chores like washing dishes and cleaning rooms to more complex industrial tasks. All these tasks require a training process that directly involves humans. Amid the rising use of robots across various sectors, the need for human labour capable of ‘teaching’ machines is also increasing. Robots cannot immediately understand the real world without examples and data. Therefore, the robot trainer acts as a bridge between human capabilities and artificial intelligence systems so that robots can work more accurately, efficiently, and safely. A robot trainer is a profession tasked with training robots and AI systems through demonstrations, data, and direct field testing. The goal is for robots to understand how humans complete specific tasks. In practice, a robot trainer will demonstrate how a job is done, for example, how to wash dishes correctly. These movements are then recorded and processed into data used to train the artificial intelligence system. From this data, the robot learns to recognise patterns, sequences of actions, and how to adapt to different conditions. This profession has several main responsibilities that are quite diverse and require high precision: 1. Providing Work Examples to the Robot; Robot trainers perform tasks directly as examples, such as washing dishes, sweeping the floor, or arranging items. All these activities become learning data for the robot. 2. Collecting and Processing Training Data; Every human movement is recorded using sensors or cameras. This data is then processed so it can be used to train the AI system. 3. Operating the Robot Directly; In some cases, robot trainers control the robot using special devices such as a joystick or a virtual system (teleoperation) to perform certain tasks remotely.
