New Price to be Announced at GIIAS 2026, BAIC T1 Already Sells 50 Units in Advance
Chinese automotive brand BAIC Indonesia will launch a new electric vehicle at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2026. In addition to introducing the new vehicle, the company is also preparing for local production.
Head of Public Relations, Sales Training & Homologation at PT JIO Distribusi Indonesia (BAIC Indonesia), Fedy Dwi Parileksono, stated that BAIC is not only focused on presenting new models but also on building a vehicle portfolio encompassing various technologies, from petrol engines and hybrids to battery-based electric vehicles.
"This time, after our market entry with a new brand, we are committed to being present in Indonesia with hybrid engines and also with EV vehicles. At this year’s GIIAS, we will display the entire line-up. So now at BAIC, we have various choices, starting from petrol engines with the BAIC BJ40 and X55, then the hybrid engine with the BJ30. And we are also presenting a new product, the BAIC T1, which is a full EV," Fedy said during a GIIAS 2026 press conference in Jakarta on Monday (13/7/2026).
The arrival of the T1 marks a new step for BAIC in expanding competition in the electric vehicle segment. The model is a rebadged version of the Arcfox T1, which has been marketed in China for some time and is now being brought to Indonesia with a new identity.
"For this time, we will enter the electric vehicle class with a product that has actually been known for a long time in China under the Arcfox T1 brand. We are now presenting it in Indonesia as a rebadge, carrying the name BAIC T1. The BAIC T1 will be available in Indonesia after we introduce it to our media colleagues, and later at GIIAS, we will launch it, including the price," Fedy mentioned.
Market enthusiasm for the latest model has already become apparent even before its official launch. BAIC has opened a further pre-booking phase while preparing a local assembly agenda as part of its business development in Indonesia.
"Alhamdulillah, the previous pre-booking of 50 units has sold out. Thank you. We will continue the pre-booking for up to 300 units, including a grand prize. We also plan to start CKD production for the BAIC T1 in 2027," he said.
In addition to bringing new products, BAIC maintains its presence in Hall 1C of GIIAS 2026. The location will serve as the centre for displaying the entire product line-up along with various sales programmes during the exhibition.
The company also confirmed that the official price of the BAIC T1 will be announced at the opening of GIIAS 2026. BAIC is targeting a competitive position to contend in the increasingly crowded electric vehicle market in Indonesia.
"We will launch the price at GIIAS with a very attractive figure. We cannot be too cheap, but our price will be more competitive in the GIIAS market. For every purchase of a BAIC brand at this GIIAS event, we will give a grand prize of one BAIC T1 car for all our line-ups," Fedy said.
