New police post dedicated
JAKARTA (JP): Chief of City Police Maj. Gen. Hindarto dedicated a new police post near the Bintara housing complex in West Bekasi on Wednesday.
"The new police post is a pilot project to test the feasibility of establishing such posts in other parts of the city," Hindarto said at the dedication ceremony.
He said standard police posts built on spacious plots of land and equipped with modern facilities are badly needed to keep up with the rapid development of the city, which is opening up new residential and business areas.
The new post was built by the developer of the Griya Bintara Indah housing complex on a 472-square-meter plot of land at a cost of Rp 79 million (US$35,900). The money for the structure, which was donated to the City Police, was donated by area residents.
The post is equipped with a wide variety of supporting facilities, including computers, telephone equipment and detention cells capable of accommodating six people.
The facility is expected to help police officers improve service to the public, Hindarto said. (hhr)
