New Phase in Pesticide Warehouse Fire Case in Tangsel, Area Manager Examined

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The pesticide warehouse fire case in the Taman Tekno warehousing area, South Tangerang, has entered a new phase. After the fire was extinguished last month, the legal process is now progressing, tracing the trail of the incident suspected to have led to environmental pollution. The South Tangerang District Prosecutor’s Office (Kejari) summoned representatives from PT Bumi Serpong Damai (BSD) Sinar Mas Land, the area manager, on Monday (30/4/2026). Two representatives were seen arriving at the prosecutor’s office around 10:00 WIB and undergoing examination for approximately three hours. “Yes, that’s correct, we conducted the summons today to obtain statements related to the fire and environmental pollution in the Taman Tekno BSD area,” he said when confirmed on Monday, quoted from TribunBanten.com. He emphasised that the results of this examination will serve as the basis for determining the next legal steps. “We will delve into today’s results to determine the subsequent actions,” said Ronny. After the examination, the area manager’s representatives chose not to provide statements. “Later, sir,” said one of them briefly. The pesticide warehouse fire that occurred on Monday (9/2/2026) in the early hours did not stop at physical building damage. The firefighting water mixed with chemicals instead became the beginning of a broader problem. “The chemicals that burned mixed with the firefighting water, then flowed into drains and culverts, carried by the current to the river,” said the Commander of the South Tangerang Fire Department Squad, Sahroni. That flow empties into Sungai Jaletreng and connects to Kali Angke. The impact was felt as far as the BSD area, marked by the discovery of dead fish.
