New overhead toll road studied

JAKARTA (JP): The Ministry of Public Works is studying the
possibility of building a new raised toll road from Jakarta to
Bekasi, West Java.

Public Works Minister Radinal Moochtar said over the weekend
that the turnpike may be constructed above the Kali Malang canal.

"The elevated toll road may be designed for public transit
vehicles commuting from Jakarta to Bekasi," he said.

The roads to be built above the north and south Kali Malang
canals will be open to public, Radinal said. "But semi-trailers
will not be allowed to use the roads," he added. (sur)
