President Prabowo Subianto has received letters of credence from nine new Ambassadors Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary (LBBP), one of whom is the new North Korean Ambassador, Hong Kwang Il. The credential presentation ceremony took place at the Merdeka Palace on Tuesday (9/6). In his remarks, Hong Kwang spoke in Indonesian. “I would like to express my gratitude for the warm welcome at the Merdeka Palace. Indeed, Korea and Indonesia have a long tradition of cooperative relations,” he stated. Hong Kwang noted that this year marks the 62nd anniversary of diplomatic relations between Indonesia and North Korea. He added that both nations have consistently respected each other, developed their friendship, and expanded cooperation. “The sense of traditional friendship is deeply rooted in the hearts of the Korean and Indonesian people,” he explained. He further stated that he will strive to enhance and broaden the friendship between the two countries. “As the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea to the Republic of Indonesia, I will endeavour to further improve and expand the friendly relations and cooperation between our two nations,” he concluded.
