New National Nutrition Agency Leaders Arrive at Palace, Promise Internal Improvements

The Deputy Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), Agustina Arumsari, arrived at the Presidential Palace to be inaugurated by President Prabowo Subianto. Arriving alongside her husband, Agustina noted that her appointment as Deputy Head of the BGN was formalised on 2 June 2026, following a Presidential Decree announced by the Minister of State Secretary.

She stated that she and two other new BGN leaders have identified several internal issues that will be the focus of their work. These include data management problems and the need to refocus the list of beneficiaries to ensure budget efficiency. The primary goal remains ensuring that no Indonesian children suffer from hunger, but current governance issues must be rectified.

Furthermore, Agustina explained that the leadership will adopt a collective working approach, moving away from specific nomenclatures for deputy roles. The focus will be on improving internal collaboration between various deputy departments, including resources and organisational structure, as well as enhancing external services.

Meanwhile, the BGN Deputy Head, Trenggono, confirmed that he has taken early retirement from the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) following his appointment to the agency. The Head of the BGN, Nanik S. Deyang, had previously arrived at the Palace for her inauguration by President Prabowo.

In related developments, the National Nutrition Agency has acknowledged that the Free Nutritious Meal programme will not reach its target of 82.9 million beneficiaries this year. The agency’s leadership has emphasised that the 2026 programme will focus on underdeveloped, frontier, and remote (3T) regions, as well as vulnerable groups, with an allocated budget of Rp268 trillion.
