During the peak Hajj phase in Armuzna (Arafah, Muzdalifah, Mina), Indonesia’s Ministry of Hajj and Umrah (Kemenhaj) will implement new murur and tanazul movement schemes. Murur involves pilgrims passing through Muzdalifah without alighting from their vehicles while travelling from Arafah to Mina. Originally, after standing at Arafah, pilgrims spend a brief overnight stay (mabit) in Muzdalifah before continuing to Mina after midnight. Tanazul, meanwhile, allows pilgrims to skip the overnight stay in Mina during the tashreeq days (12th or 13th Dhu al-Hijjah) when performing the stoning ritual. ‘The murur scheme is implemented to protect Indonesian Hajj pilgrims, as conditions in Muzdalifah do not allow all pilgrims to alight there,’ said Erti Herlina, Head of the Worship Guidance Section (Bimbad) of the PPIH Makkah Sector, to the Hajj Media Center (MCH) in Makkah on Sunday, 24 May 2026.
