New Minister Jumhur Hidayat to Focus on Addressing Waste Issue
pray and help me to ensure that the environmentalism could become our habitJakarta (ANTARA) - Newly appointed Indonesia’s Minister of Environment Mohammad Jumhur Hidayat committed to focus on addressing Indonesia’s waste issue and ensuring better waste management to meet global standards.
“There are certainly many things that need to be done, for example, in terms of waste, we will gradually comply with global standards. We are working on various international agreements,” Jumhur said at the State Palace in Jakarta on Monday.
With the strong commitment from President Prabowo Subianto, Jumhur is confident that his ministry will be able to carry out its duties and achieve their targets on that issue.
“Please, pray and help me to ensure that the environmentalism could become our habit,” he said.

Jumhur was officially appointed as Environment Minister, replacing Hanif Faisol Nurofiq who was signed as deputy coordinating minister for food affairs, in an inauguration ceremony held at the State Palace on Monday.
Jumhur is well-known as a labor figure and activist. Previously, Jumhur served as the head of Agency for the Placement and Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers (BNP2TKI) from 2007 to 2014 and the chairman of the All Indonesia Workers’ Unions Confederation (KSPSI).
In the inauguration ceremony, President Prabowo also appointed Dudung Abdurachman as the presidential chief of staff, Muhammad Qodari as head of the Government Communications Agency, as well as Abdul Kadir Karding as head of the Indonesian Quarantine Agency.
