New Limits on Subsidised Fuel Purchases Effective 1 April 2026, Maximum Purchase Amount
The government has officially implemented new rules regarding subsidised fuel (BBM) purchases starting 1 April 2026. At the same time, the price of BBM sold by PT Pertamina (Persero) on 1 April 2026 is confirmed to remain unchanged. This policy has drawn attention not only for regulating the latest BBM prices but also for limiting the purchase amounts of subsidised fuels such as Pertalite and Solar. For private four-wheeled vehicles, BBM purchases are limited to a maximum of 50 litres per day per vehicle. Meanwhile, public transport vehicles such as buses and trucks are permitted to purchase more, adjusted to their operational needs. βThe 50 litres mentioned earlier is for those with cars. It does not apply to truck or bus transport because they need more,β said the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), Bahlil Lahadalia, during an online press conference from Seoul, South Korea, on Tuesday (31/3/2026). In addition, the government is encouraging the public to use BBM more wisely and not excessively, especially amid the still volatile global energy supply conditions.
