New Lawsuit Emerges Over Hotel Sultan Land Ownership

A new civil lawsuit has been filed concerning the ownership of the land where Hotel Sultan stands in the Gelora Bung Karno complex, Central Jakarta. The case was registered by a citizen named Raden Mas (RM) Kusrahardjo, who claims to be the legitimate heir of RM Koesen. The lawsuit, registered under case number 411/Pdt.G/2026/PN Jkt.Pst, alleges unlawful acts by the defendants. The plaintiff asserts that the land, covering an area of 420,500 square metres, is still legally owned by RM Koesen based on Eigendom Verponding Document Number 1684, which was issued during the Dutch colonial era in 1938. The lawsuit is directed against PT Indobuildco, owned by Pontjo Sutowo, as well as several state institutions. These include the State Secretariat, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/National Land Agency, the Head of the Central Jakarta Land Office, and the Gelora Bung Karno Complex Management Centre. The case was filed on 15 June 2026 and is classified as an unlawful act. The first hearing, scheduled to examine the plaintiff’s legal standing, is set to take place in the Mudjono courtroom.
