New land agency chief named

BEKASI(JP): Sumaryanto has been installed as the new head of
the Bekasi office of the National Land Agency, replacing Masri
Asik.

Sumaryanto's previous position was as chief of West Java's
Land Rights Office.

After the inauguration ceremony yesterday Masri told Suara
Pembaruan daily that during his term he had uncovered 571 false
land certificate cases.

He said the scams surfaced when the land owners checked their
land status with the National Land Agency.

He said the cases had been reported to police. (25)
