Komodo International Airport in Labuan Bajo, West Manggarai, East Nusa Tenggara, is opening a new direct flight route to Makassar, South Sulawesi. The route will be served by Wings Air, a subsidiary of the Lion Group, with the inaugural flight commencing on 19 July 2026.

The Makassar-Labuan Bajo return service will operate four times a week, on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. Flights will depart Makassar at 10.55 Central Indonesia Time and arrive in Labuan Bajo at 12.25 Central Indonesia Time. The return leg will depart Labuan Bajo at 12.50 Central Indonesia Time and arrive in Makassar at 14.30 Central Indonesia Time.

Ceppy Triono, Head of the Komodo Airport Organising Unit, welcomed the new route, stating that the direct connection from Makassar would have a very positive impact on Labuan Bajo. He noted that the route could accelerate tourist visits to world-class destinations such as Komodo National Park, Padar Island, and Pink Beach. He added that improved connectivity would automatically boost the local hotel sector, small and medium enterprises, the creative economy, and the tourism industry in Labuan Bajo in a sustainable manner. Ceppy also said that Komodo International Airport remains open and actively coordinates with various national and international airlines to explore other potential new routes, and that any future route commitments or proposals would be officially communicated to the public.
