New Jampidsus Kuntadi Urged to Be 'Clean Sweep' Against Corruption
A member of the House of Representatives Commission III from the NasDem Party, Rudianto Lallo, expressed hope that the new Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus), Kuntadi, can restore public trust in the Attorney General’s Office. He likened the fight against corruption to using a ‘clean broom, not a dirty one’.
Rudianto stated that the Attorney General’s Office, as the spearhead of law enforcement in corruption cases, must work professionally and not become part of the corrupt practices themselves. ‘I believe the Attorney General’s Office is mandated by law and the state as the commander-in-chief in eradicating corruption. We hope that going forward, the Attorney General’s Office can truly become a clean broom,’ Rudianto told reporters on Thursday (23/7/2026).
He stressed that law enforcement institutions must demonstrate integrity in combating corruption. ‘They must genuinely work to eradicate corruption, not become part of it,’ he said.
According to Rudianto, the change in Jampidsus leadership is a momentum to bring new hope amid previous controversies. He hopes Kuntadi can meet public expectations by resolving outstanding corruption cases. ‘We hope this new Jampidsus can become a new hope for the President to truly work on eradicating corruption and resolving cases that have been backlogged,’ he stated.
Rudianto assessed that Kuntadi’s track record as a former Director of Investigations is an important asset for leading the handling of corruption cases. However, he reminded that the biggest challenge currently is restoring public confidence in the Attorney General’s Office. ‘I liken it to sweeping a dirty floor not with a dirty broom, but with a clean one. So that law enforcement in the field of corruption eradication truly runs on the track,’ he said.
As a partner of the Attorney General’s Office in the House, Rudianto stated that he respects President Prabowo Subianto’s decision to appoint Kuntadi as the new Jampidsus. He hopes Kuntadi can address public concerns while resolving various unfinished corruption cases. ‘This is a challenge for Mr Kuntadi amidst declining public trust due to previous events. Hopefully, all backlogged cases can be resolved and this becomes a new hope for corruption eradication at the Attorney General’s Office. I wish him well in his work, and may the corruption cases be resolved,’ he concluded.
Prabowo had previously signed a Presidential Decree regarding the Jampidsus position, replacing Febrie Adriansyah, who became a suspect. Prabowo appointed Kuntadi as the new Jampidsus at the Attorney General’s Office. ‘Regarding the presidential decree in accordance with the proposal from the Attorney General concerning officials within the Attorney General’s Office, we can inform you that yesterday the President signed the decree based on the assessment of the Final Assessment Team as referred to in the proposal letter from the Attorney General,’ said Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi at the Presidential Palace complex.
Pras stated that his office handed over the excerpt of the Presidential Decree on the appointment of the new Jampidsus to the Attorney General’s Office on Wednesday (22/7). ‘The plan is that today we will follow up administratively so that later the excerpt of the decree will be sent to the relevant agency, in this case the Attorney General’s Office,’ he said.
