JAKARTA — Several Apple customers have reported cracks appearing on the screen of the iPhone Duo, the US technology company’s latest foldable phone. The complaints emerged after dozens of users reported similar problems with the device, which is priced at around Rp45 million.

Photos shared on social media show vertical and horizontal lines on the screen. Videos circulating online show the cracks appearing after the phone is folded.

One user in Australia reported that their device was damaged just six hours after they acquired it. The user shared their experience on Reddit.

“I was showing it to a friend. When I opened it, I felt something around the inner hinge, right beneath the screen,” the user said, according to The Guardian on Thursday (29 October 2026).

The user also uploaded a photo showing what appeared to be a screen fault. The image shows a long white line of light along one side of the screen. “As I kept opening it, I heard a distinct cracking sound, and the screen broke right along the hinge,” the user added.

Other users have complained of similar problems in posts on X. “There are so many similar cases on Reddit, and they all have damage in exactly the same spot,” one user wrote.

“There is a faulty hinge component putting pressure on the screen and causing it to crack in exactly this pattern,” another user said.

A Bloomberg report also highlighted similar problems experienced by iPhone Duo users in the United States and India. The damage has since been dubbed “crackgate” on social media.

Apple said the affected units showed damage relatively soon after use. However, the company did not disclose the technical cause of the damage in detail.
