The Chairman of Commission XI of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), Mukhamad Misbakhun, has confirmed that a new institution will be established to oversee and manage the International Financial Centre (IFC) in Indonesia. The IFC is an international financial hub currently being developed by the government in Bali. The plan is for this area to serve as a modern financial hub, much like the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC), to attract investment funds and global conglomerates’ Family Offices.

Speaking to reporters at the DPR RI Building in Jakarta on Thursday (4/6/2026), Misbakhun explained that the IFC will function as a specialised cluster. This cluster will be granted privileges regarding taxation regulations, civil dispute resolution, and regional management, positioning it as Indonesia’s financial centre to drive investment. He added that investors will be able to establish various types of financial service institutions there, including banking, insurance, pension funds, and venture capital.

“All of these will be provided with special treatment and specialised supervision. Furthermore, if civil disputes arise, fast-track dispute resolution methods will be provided to build investor confidence, encouraging them to invest and expand their businesses from the region,” he stated. Misbautun also noted that the IFC will eventually house family offices and wealth management centres.

The IFC is regulated under the P2SK Law, which replaces Law Number 4 of 2023. Minister of Finance Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa stated that the P2SK Law will accommodate the regulations for the Indonesia Financial Centre. This project was initiated by the Chairman of the National Economic Council (DEN), Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan.

During a working meeting with the DPR RI on Wednesday (3/3/2026), Purbaya stated, “The Indonesia Financial Centre is an area designated by the government as an international financial centre that possesses financial, administrative, and operational independence based on the provisions of this law.” He emphasised that the IFC represents a national vision for sustainable economic growth and the diversification of the national economy through effective contributions to the financial sector and its supervision.

The financial centre is planned to be located in Bali within a Special Economic Zone (SEZ). The centre is expected to offer several global-standard incentives to attract foreign capital inflows, including the option of tax incentives as low as 0% for investors who establish and invest capital within this financial centre.
