New INKA CLI-225 Commuter Trains Suddenly Absent from Bogor Line — Here's Why

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia — Commuter trains (KRL) produced by PT Industri Kereta Api (INKA) Persero have suddenly disappeared from the Bogor Line (Red Line). This follows a comprehensive inspection, or general check-up, carried out by PT KAI Commuter Indonesia (KCI) on several KRL train sets manufactured by INKA.

KAI Commuter (KCI) VP Corporate Secretary Karina Amanda said the inspection covers the EA-207 CLI-225, or iE305 series, produced directly at INKA’s factory in Madiun, East Java. The process began on 7 September 2026.

“We, KCI, together with INKA, are currently carrying out a general check-up on the iE305 series KRL produced by INKA, starting from 7 September,” Karina told CNBC Indonesia when contacted on Tuesday (8/9/2026).

Karina revealed that a total of seven train sets are undergoing the general check-up. For the time being, the inspection process is scheduled to run until 30 September 2026.

“For now we have scheduled it because there are a total of seven train sets, so it runs from 7 until 30 September 2026,” she said.

The inspection of the seven train sets has consequently affected Commuter Line (KRL) services. KCI has adjusted its timetable, with 17 journeys currently affected, all of them on the Bogor Line.

“Yes, with the general check-up being carried out on the seven train sets, we then adjusted the Commuter Line timetable, so for now 17 journeys have been adjusted, and indeed all of them are on the Bogor Line,” she explained.

As a result of the adjustment, the number of Commuter Line services operated by KCI on weekdays has fallen compared with the situation before the general check-up began.

Karina explained that before 7 September 2026, KCI operated 1,065 journeys per day on weekdays. During the inspection period of the INKA-produced KRL, the number of journeys has become 1,048 per day.

“Perhaps I should speak in terms of the total journeys first, because the number of train sets is quite dynamic. So currently, if before 7 September on weekdays we operated 1,065 journeys, then during the general check-up period for the INKA-produced KRL we are operating 1,048 journeys per day,” Karina said.

This means 17 journeys per weekday have been adjusted while the seven iE305 series train sets undergo inspection. For the time being, KCI has scheduled the general check-up process to run until 30 September 2026.
